Forecast Calls For...

Did you know it was supposed to snow here today?  The kids seem to have gotten the memo.

That would be cornstarch.

Covering these hooligans children from head to toe.

And what did they do when they saw me come back into the kitchen?

Throw it up in the air like confetti and run around the house squealing.

Anyone know how to get this stuff out of the grooves in a hardwood floor?

Oh dear! I had a similar mess several years ago and had quite a challenge to get everything clean. Hopefully it won't be too hard for you.

Where in the world did they get that idea? (I say this while picturing several youth group members, including you, covered with flour and ice cream:)) Did you try vacuuming it up?

Oh. My. Word.

HA! The most hilarious thing (from my end) is that they actually *laughed* when they saw you, like, "Yay, now the party's complete!"

From *your* perspective, of course, it's more like, "Somebody's gonna get a hurt a reeeeal bad!" :)

Oh my goodness, Christine, I had totally forgotten about that! Heh heh. I mean uh, I have NO idea where they get this stuff from!

I have swept it all up and got down with a few wet rags and rubbed it up. The floors are still fairly slick, like there's a light dusting I just get get off. I tried using tape but that only got the very top of the cracks.

ooooh, dear...

I vote for the vacuum cleaner...that is, if the fan from it doesn't blow the powdery stuff around more.

just out of curiosity, what were the twins doing when you were cleaning everything up?

OY.

And again I say unto thee: Oy.

have you tried a can of air to get the cornstarch out of the cracks?

That's a really great idea, Mell. I'll have to pick up a can and give it a try!
And as far as how I cleaned it up... well, after the initial paralyzation wore off I wiped them down with wet cloths and put them in the playroom with their toys. This kind of situation is one of the reasons why we have gates at both entrances of our kitchen. I was able to clean in peace. :)
